A CASE FOR KANSAS CITY
Two championship teams. Two new stadiums. A $103 billion digital infrastructure surge. The most consequential build-up in the American heartland, and it all radiates from Downtown Kansas City. The argument for why architectural & engineering firms belong here is structural, not sentimental. Work, talent, cost, peers, geography, and a generational pipeline that isn’t coming, it’s already arrived.
FOUR WAVES OF INFRASTRUCTURE
From a $100 billion data center campus to new stadiums, a rebuilt I-70 corridor, and a transformed downtown, every sector is moving simultaneously.

I-70. I-670. Both. Kansas City is rebuilding the two interstate corridors that define its urban form, simultaneously. The I-70 reconstruction is the largest highway investment in Missouri history. The I-670 cap will knit a fractured downtown back together. Both projects break ground within two years of each other.

THE WORLD’S TOP SPORTS ARCHITECT IS DESIGNING KC’S OWN STADIUMS
Kansas City’s Populous, the firm behind more than 50% of global sports architecture, is designing both new stadiums for the Chiefs and Royals. They’ve also moved their Americas headquarters to a new downtown tower, right next to the district they’re helping build. Populous, descended from KC’s Kivett and Myers, now the world’s dominant sports venue firm, relocated to 1400KC, the new downtown tower at 14th & Baltimore. The firm designing stadiums on six continents is headquartered in the city whose own two stadiums it is designing right now. This says everything about why Kansas City is where artchitecture & engineering firms should be.
