A Kansas City favorite is finally getting a front door of its own.
Mersea is opening its first-ever brick-and-mortar shop at Country Club Plaza, and it feels like a perfect fit. After years of building a loyal following online, at warehouse sales, and inside local boutiques, the brand is planting roots right in the heart of Kansas City. The new space, 1,371 square feet at 602 W. 48th Street, will take over the former Three Dog Bakery location. If you’ve walked the Plaza before, you know exactly the spot. The store is expected to open in early summer, just in time for peak Plaza foot traffic.
For those who aren’t familiar, Mersea is all about easy, coastal-inspired pieces; think cozy wraps, candles, bags, and gifts that give off a relaxed, beachy vibe (even in the Midwest). It’s the kind of brand people already know and love locally, which makes this move feel less like a debut and more like a long-overdue next step.

The Plaza continues to evolve with a mix of new, unique tenants, and Mersea adds something a little different; locally grown, lifestyle-driven, and experience-focused. It’s another example of how the new owner, Gillon Property Group, is leaning into brands that bring personality and a sense of discovery.
The store is set to open early this summer. The lease was facilitated by AREA Real Estate Advisors’ Tiffany Ruzicka and Patrick Kohnle, representing the Landlord.
