Matt Vaupell
Managing PartnerMatt Vaupell joined AREA Real Estate Advisors in 2003 specializing in the leasing and sales of retail and investment properties. Matt has over 28 years of commercial real estate sales experience and has successfully represented numerous local and national companies in purchasing, leasing and selling commercial property throughout Kansas City and across the Midwest. Matt is directly involved in the overall management of AREA, as well as overseeing over 15 full-time retail, industrial, and office brokers.
Matt began his real estate career in 1995 as a sales associate at Cohen-Esrey Real Estate Services Inc., a Kansas City-based full-service real estate firm. While at Cohen-Esrey, Matt specialized in industrial property leasing and sales. After leaving Cohen-Esrey in 1997, Matt joined Lioness Realty Group Inc., where he became involved in all facets of commercial real estate brokerage including the leasing and sales of office, industrial, retail and investment properties.
Some of Matt’s current assignments include new store rollouts for 151 Coffee, Five Below, Higher Ground Education, and Take 5. In addition to his tenant assignments, Matt is the Landlord Representative for the University of Kansas-The Crossing at KU- a mixed-use campus project, and Regency Park Shopping Center in Overland Park, and leads the development and leasing team for the Lansing Town Center project. Matt has exclusively represented numerous retailers over the years such as Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta, Carrabbas, Flemings, QuikTrip Corporation, Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish, Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Sonic, Flip’d, Clair de Lune, Palm Beach Tan, Harbor Freight, KC Masterpiece Restaurant, CarMax, Slim Chickens, Advance Auto, Walk-on’s Sports Bistro, Tesla Motors, and Sears.
Matt has served on the Olathe Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund Board and is involved with numerous other Kansas City based charitable organizations. Matt and his family founded Thanksgiving Traditions in 2008, which has provided thousands of meals to families in need during the holidays. He is an honoree of Ingram’s magazine 40 Under Forty Class of 2010. Ingram’s chose men and women who demonstrate significant leadership and integrity while balancing business, family, and community. Matt received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Emporia State University and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
