Longtime Zona Rosa tenant, 54th Street Bar & Grill, is undergoing a large renovation, expansion and rebrand. This $2 million renovation is one that has been 5 years in the making.  The renovations will include demoing of the current bar area and creating a new outdoor recreational area in the courtyard space next door.  They will also be expanding their selection to offer 54 beers on top (served at 29 degrees) and adding a 100-keg cooler.  The outdoor recreational area will be a 10,000 SF addition, which will include 2 large garage doors for outdoor access, 2 pickleball courts, bocce ball, fire pits, outdoor seating, big screen TV, live music and lawn games.  These renovations are anticipated to be completed by the fall of 2021.

54th Street is a KRM, Inc. owned company based here in Kansas City. The five-four concept is one that was envisioned to be a place that would appeal to both dining and bar customers, while offering high quality food and drinks that exceed national competition.  The result has become an eclectic, retry style atmosphere that accommodates both a lively bar crowd and consistently packed dining room, ensuring a good time for all patrons.  It is no surprise that the majority of the food is made from scratch daily, given that the restaurants motto is ‘great food starts with high quality meats and ingredients, fresh produce and meals prepared form scratch.’  The restaurant has 32 locations over 4 states, including 4 of those being in the Kansas City Metro.

54th Street’s business has been better than ever, and despite the pandemic, the timing of this redevelopment was just right. Both Zona Rosa’s and 54th Street’s forward thinking ownership were able to collaboratively work together to make this vision come to life.  AREA’s Andy Epstein and Tiffany Ruzicka represented 54th Street in their expansion.
